Danielle Altman

Project Assistant

Danielle Altman is a Project Assistant for the Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies at the Woodrow Wilson Center. She has a B.A. in anthropology from the University of California at Santa Cruz, where she focused on medical anthropology. She earned an M.A. in anthropology from the University of Florida, where a Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship supported her research concerning the emergence of post-partum depression in post-apartheid South African townships.

During her studies, she worked with a number of NGOs in Cape Town which seek to improve women’s and children’s health. She also worked for the Institute for Child Health Policy at the University of Florida, where she contributed to public health research projects aimed at preventing negative health outcomes among youth in the USA. Prior to joining the Project, she taught English in Suzuka, Japan with the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program.
